Advantages of membership:

  • help and advice from experienced beekeepers
  • organised courses for new beekeepers, including an opportunity to examine bees at the branch apiary
  • interesting talks throughout the winter from a wide range of local and regional beekeeping experts
  • bee disease insurance to give recompense for any colonies that have to be destroyed because of notifiable diseases
  • public liability insurance up to a limit of £5 million in any one year and any one incident against accidents arising from their beekeeping activities.  There is an excess of £500 for any claims that relate to property.
  • hire of some beekeeping equipment
  • opportunity to sell honey on the branch stand at various shows during the year

For those who are generally interested in the craft and wish to support the association (DBKA)

Note :  The full membership includes Bee insurance for up to 3 hives.   Extra premiums required for more than 3 hives (see membership form for details).

Renewal form for existing members

For 2014 an individualised renewal form for those who were members in 2013 has been produced. This has already been emailed to those members with email addresses. Non-email members should receive their personal forms by post on 9 November 2013.
