Beginners Course -
The course will be run in Wednesday evenings at The Stables in Chilsworthy (the church hall attached to the Methodist Church) . Each session starts at 19:30 and usually finishes between 21:00 and 22:00, depending on how many questions people ask. The first session is on February 5th 2025 and there will be 7 other weekly sessions. In April, we normally start fortnightly Apiary meetings on Sunday afternoons, meeting around 14:30 and breaking up when the tea and cakes run out at our association apiary at Dunsland (National Trust property between Holsworthy and Hatherleigh). At those fortnightly meetings, you will get a chance to put your training into practice and handle bees and see what we do to resolve problems and keep the bees healthy. We generally have between eight and ten hives on the go.
The course fee is £112 and this includes registered membership of the British Beekeepers Association (which costs £39). Price is reduced if the course is taken by more than one member of a household. Membership is mandatory, I'm afraid.
